Spain - Vivo en un archipiélago (I live in an archipelago)

Hello everyone,
We are from Valsequillo, a small and beautiful village in Gran Canaria.
Gran Canaria is one of the seven Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean.
We are from Spain.
The song we sing “Vivo en un Archipiélago” ( I live in an Archipelago)  is from the Canarian singer named, Manuel Negrín (Pololo) and it’s about life on our islands, which  people often refer to as the "fortunate Islands”, and its wonderful people.  In the video, you can see our breathtaking landscapes as well as, our traditional clothing, dances, and games.
All of our pupils (286) have taken part in this project, from the youngest  (3 years old) to the oldest.
We had a lot of fun throughout the process of preparing and recording our video.
We would like to thank all of the teachers, the families, the town council, the music school and all of the people who have collaborated in this dream.
Participating in the Schoolovision experience has brought everyone in our village even closer together than we already were!

Really, really loved your video. It's very culturally educative:) Lovely singing from the children and beautiful genuine music. This project radiates the spirit of togetherness. You live in a very colourful spot:)
Best wishes,

In the four years of the Schoolovision project, there have already been many, many really wonderful entries that we have all enjoyed and marvelled at.

BUT, speaking personally, I don't think there has been an entry that has overwhelmed me as much as this one- this is simply staggering! It's absolutely beautiful, with an amazing video, and really great singing. The song itself has a message for us all, perhaps even more important at this point in Europe's history!

To think that the whole village contributed to this entry just makes me feel very humble when I watch it. I was moved to tears when I watched it the first time, and again the second time!

Thank you Rosa Delia, and your truly fantastic team over there in Gran Canaria. I LOVE IT!

Good luck from Scotland.

BRAVO. Amazing video!!!.
Spectacular lyrics !!!,
It totatly address the spirit of this event.
This video has already an European added value.
It means (at least to me) that Europe it is not only burocracy and limited to the center of Europe, but it includes all the territories around, as this archipelago, far away from the European center (but prouds of being Europeans, an receive millions of europeans every year).

On the other hand it seems to me that they want to transmit that Europe is more than an Economic Union: It must be the Europe of the citizens!!!, including all the diversities.
The song itself has a deep message.
I really cried when watching the video. I had goose pimples

Congratulations to all the persons that made it possible!!!!!!!

Rafa

Such a beautiful, wonderful video!
what a great work!
You made me feel so proud of be from the Canary Islands. I know Valsequillo very well and I knew this wonderful song (I love it).
But how could imagine such a bunch of good teachers and families, and children all working together like a community, with the tradition and the ideas that represents all the Canaries...uff. You did it great! You deserve all the best! Thanks a lot and CONGRATULATIONS from Holland!

John & Gail from Canada say ‘CONGRATULTIONS to all the children at CEIP Valsequillo, for such a wonderful performance. Your singing brings tears of happiness to my eyes and reinforces my fondness for the Canary Islands, and our love for our winter home in La Gomera. You can be proud of your school and your heritage in your beautiful ‘archipielago’.

¡¡Saludos Canariones!!

What a way to make my day!.
Thanks to my friend Eusebio for sending me the link to such a touching video. I am an emigrant from Gran Canaria living in California USA for the last 26 years and thought I love the opportunities afforded to me by my host country, I can never forget what I left behind. Suffice it to say that every significant vacation that I have taken in those 26 years has been to the Canary Islands...as they say here, You can take the Canarian out of the islands, but you can't take the islands out of the Canarian.
Awesome job everyone!!!!

I am reminded of why it is than in those 26 years I have taken every opportunity to travel back home at the expense of other more local destinations.
As they say around this parts: "You can take the Canarian out the islands, but you can't take the Islands out of the Canarian".
Awesome job guys!!!!!

We are proud of the great work these children and teachers altogether have done in Valsequillo (Gran Canaria)and for that reason think it is a must to encourage and promote cultural videos like these in which children are the main characters...their innocence and purity is unreplaceable....

Keep it up!
